Tyler State Park

Still visiting Tyler State Park until tomorrow when we leave for Austin, Texas for several days.
Tyler State Park is big with several hundred acres and a big lake.  They also have plenty of areas for the children to play and swim.  We were going to use the kayak that we are carrying around with us here but the weather has been bad.  It rained the first day we were here and then it turned cold and I do not do water in the cold.
Today we were invited to a luncheon at the park put on by the Dutch Oven Club.  They meet here every month and cook in the Dutch Ovens and then serve it to the campers.  I have a Dutch Oven but never knew there was a club for it.  Apparently, there are many clubs around the US and they do the same thing.  The meal was outstanding and I wish I could have gotten the recipes from them but they were not offering them.  They cooked beans, potatoes and cheese, Mexican dishes and apple pie for desert.

After eating till we were full, we came back to the RV and took a two-hour nap!!  But what the heck, we are old, we are supposed to take afternoon naps.  We then went to the country store which is in the park and Cindy had to buy a tee shirt of course.
This part of the trip was not for sightseeing or doing exciting things, it was supposed to be a restful and relaxing time for us, so we could get over the stress of the recent wedding in the family.  I think it worked.  We have been in the park for two days and doing nothing, but Cindy did start a fight with a Racoon, who tried to get inside the RV.  We took the trash out and came back inside for a second to get something and came back out and the trash bag was ripped opened and the remains of hamburger and hotdogs were strewn all over the ground.  I cleaned it up and had started to the dumpster when I hear the familiar sounds of Cindy yelling at something.  She was standing on the steps when I came back around the RV and the Racoon was standing at the bottom of the steps waiting for an invite inside to finish what was left of the meat inside.  I was not sure who was going to win that battle but I could see the look in Cindy’s eyes and I knew that the Glock 40 cal. was fixing to come into play.  It was a good thing that the Racoon figured that out too and left.  BTW there are no guns allowed in Texas State Parks so I guess Cindy dodged going to jail.
This was a good stay and we met a lot of friendly people in the park.  Texas is growing on us.
