We arrived in Verdi, Nevada on Monday, June 19th. Verdi is just north of Lake Tahoe and Tahoe City. Yesterday, we went to Lake Tahoe and rode around the lake for awhile. We stopped at Tahoe City first because one of us had to have a coffee. Not just an ordinary cut of coffee but a special cup that you cannot buy at a service station. We then traveled to Emerald Cove, at the south end of the lake near South Tahoe. The area was so crowded that we could not find a parking place to stop and take photos, so we went on to Camp Richardson. We ate lunch at the Beacon Bar and Grill and it was a great meal. I had some of the best fried fish that I have had it a long time and Cindy had a tuna melt that was good also. The restaurant was on the water and we had a great view of the lake and little beach area.
After lunch we headed back to Verdi and to our surprise the traffic was better and there were parking spaces at Emerald Cove. We were able to stop and take pictures. This area is really beautiful and the mountains still have snow. They had a big snow fall at the first of June here but most of it had melted except for the mountains. The temperature here is about 85 to 90 during the day but falls to about 60 at night.
We are in a nice campground in Verdi and the ones that we saw at and around Lake Tahoe were crowded and not as nice as ours. I guess the lesson here is not to stay where it is crowded.
