Sequoia National Park and the Heavens
Well we finally made it to the Sequoia RV park just outside of the National Park with the same name. We arrived on Friday afternoon having left the desert of Nevada, Arizona and Texas. The weather there was hot, the last day there it was 107 in the shade. It was a dry heat and that is the only way we survived. Arriving here the temp the first day got up to 80 degrees and yesterday it was a high of about 75 and cloudy. We went up on the mountain about 6000 feet and it was cold there and everyone except us had on sweat shirts and blue jeans. The clouds were so low that it covered the tops of the mountain and driving through there you could not see anything. We will have to go back another day to get good photos of the trees. Today, it is 64 for the high so we are dressed in long sleeves and jeans instead of shorts. We located some find kayaking water and may try it in the next couple of days. It looks a little rough, but Cindy insist that she can make it without screaming like a little girl. We will see.
We are in a little town called Three Rivers. It has one grocery store one post office and a small bank and that is about it. There is one place to get diesel fuel and it is $3.37 a gallon. There is no service in the park and the next closest place for fuel is 100 miles away. So better fill up each time you leave camp and do not run out!!!
The pic of the big rock, Cindy tried climbing up to the top, and almost made it but turned around. She didn't want and ER visit.
Better photos in the next few days I hope.
