Yesterday, August 20, 2017 we traveled to Bryce Canyon. The sun was not out all the time we were there and I wish it would have been because the photos would have been a lot better. There were several storms that came up while we were there and we could see the rain coming in and the lighting was awesome. We tried to catch the lighting on camera but neither Cindy or I could quite capture it. This is the first rain we have encountered during our travels. We have had a few drops fall but this was a heavy rain fall after it finally caught up to us. Bryce Canyon is a great place with a lot of beautiful views of different spheres and rock formations. It is unbelievable how these rocks are stacked on top of each other and do not fall. They are created from the wind, water and ice or so says the information we read. And because of this they are every changing.
At Rainbow Point there was an Apache Indian performing a ceremony, burning incense and praying to the ancestor Gods. A group gathered to listen and watch and it was interesting. His photo and his children are attached.
At the Ponderosa Point we met the Mayor and he gave his blessing to us to enjoy the scenery and that all the photos we pleased. I think he was looking for a handout but we did not provide one since the Park Service advised not to give handouts.
