Kanab City of Western Legends and Cow Stampede

On August 26, 2017 (Bobby's  Birthday) we went to the city of Kanab for the Western Star Legends.  They call this place the Little Hollywood of Utah.  Hundreds of westerns were shot here and some are still running on TV Land today.  Series like Gunsmoke, Lone Ranger,  Wagon Train, The Virginian, Rifleman, and that is just a few.  Each year and for the last thirty years or more the city has had the stars of these movies and TV series come to the town for the Western Legends celebration.  They had a parade and meeting of the stars and concerts.  This year they had the Bellamy Brothers in Concert but they were all sold out by the time we could get to the ticket office to get them.  We have seen them in concert just before we came on this trip but would have loved to see them again.  They also had stars that played in westerns and also had other hit TV shows, like Dawn Wells who played Mary Anne on Gillian's Island.  Bobby watches the re-runs of that show and knew who she was.  She agreed to meet and take a photo with him and that made his day.

Cindy got attached to Rudy Remos, who has played Geronimo in  westerns and is going to star along with Kevin Costner in a new movie coming out in January  of 2018 on Spike cable TV.  He started on High Chaparral in the 1970's as Wind, the Indian Boy.  He as also appeared in Helter Skelter, Colors, The Enforcer and Beverly Hills Cop II to name a few.  He is now doing a play there in Kanab about the history of Geronimo's time in a prison camp and other history.  He invited Cindy to come to the show and to stay afterwards for a meet and greet.  Well, to heck with that!!!  That's my squaw and them darn Indians carry knives and I like my hair just the way it is!!  We declined!!

Other stars we saw were Johnny Crawford, who played the son of the Rifleman and Darby somebody who played the son of Daniel Boone of the TV show.  Clint Walker, Chenney Bodie, broke his shoulder and could not make it and some others were a no show as well.

They had a broadway set up with all kinds of vendors selling everything and they had a stage with various singers playing and singing western tunes.  But at high noon they had a parade come down main street with longhorn cattle leading the way.  Then various other wagon trains and horses and mules were ridden down the street.
