Shoshone Falls

We visited the Shoshone Falls on Saturday, August 13.  They are beautiful falls and in some parts, they are higher than Niagara Falls.  There are about three or four falls in the same area which make up the Shoshone Falls.  They are located about three miles out of town and were easy to get to.  You can also get to them using a kayak or other boats.  The grounds are well kept and there were shaded picnic tables for people to enjoy.  There is a lake (Lake Dierkes) located above the falls for people to put in their boats and to go swimming if they choose.  We did none of that but did enjoy the falls.

Kayaking the Snake River

On Sunday August 13, 2017 we kayaked the Snake River.  They have a public ramp set up for kayaks to enter the river and it was easy to get the kayaks into the river and out of it.  We rented Bobby and Cindy a kayak so we did not have to take the big rubber duck kayak with us.  The river was not very hard to paddle although there was some wind that came up and it effected the return trip.  We kayaked to the Perrine Bridge and watched a few jumpers parachute from the bridge.  Apparently there is always a lot of people on the river in kayaks because they have you travel as though you were in a car.  Right side going down and left side coming back up the river.  They do this so the other boats have a place to travel back and forth without running over the kayakers.  If you do not follow these rules the Sheriff's department will issue you a ticket which cost about $86 dollars.  There is also a little know law that says you must have a no...
