Durango and Mesa Verde
Our next stop was Delores, Co. near Cortez, Co. Cortez is the bigger town and has plenty of Mexican Restaurants. We had to eat at two different ones because Cindy wanted Mexican AGAIN! We did not do a lot here becuase we had probelms with the truck and had to get that fixed. The fuel filter housings on the Ford F 350 are plastic and they break easy. I was changing ours because it was time and when I tried to get the housing off it broke. That means it would not run because the fuel could not get to the engine. So that means a wrecker had to be called and it was carried to a shop to get the housing off and a new one installed. Come to find out the housing was stuck because the Ford Dealer in Dallas Ga put it on too tight. They had to use a big and I mean big pair of channel locks to get it off. Any way we got it fixed and then we went to the Mesa Verde National Park. This is where the Native American Pueblos lived in houses that were built under the crevice of rocks in this area. They lived here for hundreds of years and then about 750 years ago they left. Some of the scientist say they left because of lack of water for the crops but no one really knows why they left. Some say they showed up in Arizona and New Mexico. Anyway they were really good at building the houses and they use mathematics that was well advanced for them to get the structures to be square and rounded. In this park there are several housing units built by the Native Americans but some are more difficult to climb to than others so we chose the easy one.
