Payette River and Kayak and rear death adventure

Image
We tried kayaking the Payette River yesterday and the first trip went well.  I put Bobby and Cindy in the rubber duck kayak and they took off from the city water park which was about a mile from the campground where we are staying.  They were going to do the 45 minute float to the Arrowhead Campground and I would meet them there and help pull the kayak from the river.  All went well and they made it through one of the worse rapids for this trip,  It took less than 45 minutes for them to float to the Arrowhead Campground where I was waiting.  Then it was my turn to go in the single kayak.( the neon green snail)  Well we went to the water park where you put in for this trip and you have to go through one large rapid to get to the smooth water where it takes about 45 minutes to get to the destination.  Well I put in and everything was going smooth until I hit the first big rapid and then the water filled the kayak and it turned over with me.  I struggled to get back up and the kayak was

Idaho, Lakes and Rivers and a Town called McCall

Image
Well we made it out of Spokane and into Cascade Idaho.  The town is close to the lake with the same name and there is a river (Paylette) runs right behind our RV in the campsite.  We are planning on using the kayaks to float down the river several time is weather permits.  Yesterday we went into McCall, which is about 26 miles from Cascade.  mcCall is much bigger and has a lot of stores that needed Cindy to visit.  She also need a phone charger for her phone and we were able to pick one up there.  McCall had a unique system for crossing the streets.  There are green flags on every corner and you get one and hold it up as you go into the crosswalk.  There is a return holder on the other side to place the flag in where you cross.  Why green I do not know seems that would confuse the drivers and make them gas the car inside of stopping it.  But what do I know!  I crossed the street several times but I did not carry no green flag with me while doing it.  No sense in giving someone an excus

Spokane

We arrived in Spokane on July 21, 2017.  It was a rough ride from Mossyrock, Washington to Spokane.  Plus we had to stop for a potty break for Bobby and Cindy.  I pulled off the road where we had plenty of room for the truck and RV.  Cindy and Bobby went to the restroom (we pull ours with us) and as Cindy was coming from the RV to the truck she tripped and fell down the steps of the RV and hurt her back and bottom.  She is still hobbling around and her butt is bruised up.  To make matters worse we lost the cover locking panel to the electrical cable box on the way here and that is going to cost more than I want to pay to get it fixed.  But that is life in an RV, I guess. We have not done a lot of things here but we did go downtown today to see the Riverside Park and the  Upper and Lower Spokane Falls.  It is a big park but they are doing a lot of construction around the area.  So it was unsightly and we did not enjoy it as much as we thought we would. To make matters worse we parked

Mt. Ree Neer

Ok, so we went to Mt.  Rainier yesterday.  They pronounce it Ru Neer.  Wondered why everyone was looking at me funny when I would say the name, now I know.  Mt. Rainier is closer than Mt. St. Helens to us so it did not take long to get there and the drive was good.  It is out in the country and I mean country.  The radio station for the mountain, which broadcast emergency and general information warns you there is no cell service and no gas and tell you where to stop to get it.  We stopped in Ashford which is a small town with about three stores and a gas station that sold diesel for 3.19 a gallon.  I about had a heart attack when I saw that but thankfully I only wanted to top off the tank.  It cost me $30 for that and it was 3/4 full.  We saw this old country store and I wanted to go inside to see what they had and buy something for a picnic lunch.  Thinking that there would be an old gentleman or lady there that owned the store would help us.  Well to my s

Seattle and a trip from Hades

So, on Friday July 14, 2017 we went to Seattle to get my phone repaired and to eat at a restaurant that Cindy had eaten at with the girls several years ago and to visit the Space Needle.  The trip was suppose to take 2 1/2 hours to get there.  It took us 4 hours because the traffic was so bad.    We had to get my phone replaced because the battery had died and would not wake up. We went to the Apple Store that someone had recommended and it took forever to get it done.  First,  there was an appointment scheduled and then there was a wait to see the tech who would diagnose the problem and then a wait to get a new phone for the price of a battery.  It was the same kind of phone and no upgrade of course.  After that we traveled to downtown area where the docks are located and went to Dock 57.  We were looking for the restaurant Crab Pot and as I said Cindy had eaten here before.  We finally found the place and ordered our meal.  The food was good but the price will kill you. It was $167
